can my fiancee come to uk

Postby pat1964 » Mon Feb 01, 2010 5:08 pm

Hi all, I am not sure if this is the correct section for this question, sorry if i ask in the wrong place.

Just to outline my situation, I am a uk citizen and i am in love with a Thai woman who lives in BKK, we have known each other for about 18 months, and we want to marry. However, we have real worries about whether we can get visas for her and her 11 year old son, (who i will adopt when we marry). The big issue here at the moment is that i can not work, I am in reciept of incapacity benefit and DLA, also my lady recently lost her job in BKK due to her boss moving back to china. Has anyone had a similar situation? And does anyone know if there is any likelyhood that we can still obtain visas for my lady and her son?

I will realy appreciate any advice, i am at a loss as to where to start, the immigration service is no help, they are so vague about the situation. Please help us if you can. Many thanks.

What did your embassy say ? You will have to show that you can support them in Britain etc. There may be an interview to establish the relationship is not a sham etc. Be realistic too. Why is she interested in you ? Are you good looking ? Funny ? Rich ? If you're not saying 'yes' to one of those, ask yourself what she sees in you. Be honest with yourself before you get married. And if she truly loves you, see what happens if you ask her to wait ...
