Volunteering Visa?

Postby josephinewilliams » Mon Feb 01, 2010 2:05 am

Hello everyone!!

In Late October 2010, me and my sister are doing some volunteer work in Koh Lanta, Thailand. I am really confused at if I need a Visa to do so. :? As i'm not booking through any agency I don't know how to find out this information. Also I hold a British passport, I don't know if that makes a difference!

Thanks for your help !! ;)

Doing any form of work in LOS is strictly forbidden, even work on your own property. I think you will need to contact someone that deals with voluntary work in LOS to be on the safe side.

If caught working without a work permit can result in deportation.

Hopefully someone will correct me if I'm wrong.

Scorpiopower. I find this a very strange question. If you know the voluntary work is on Koh Lanta, then surely you know the organisation you will be working for? They should be able to advise you as to what is required.

As has been said in the previous post by S.H.A.D.O., you cannot officially do any form of work, other than some supervisory positions, including voluntary or charity work, without a work permit.
