Hi JHWest,
The current cost of a normal licence is THB 108 and it will be issued for five years. I cannot recall the cost of an international one but it is still very cheap.

I'm french and living in Thailand since two years and a half.
First, I apologise about my english which will be not equal to yours!
I retire in a little town which name is Sawang Daen Din in Sakhon Nakhon province ( Issan).
I'm married with a thai woman who is a farmer.

I hope I can help you if you have any questions about Issan and other parts of this country.

And first, I would like to make a rectification about the thai driving license;
the first one you will have is only one year; after this year, u will have a 5 years one.
And there are many drving licenses;
I have one for motocycle and another for cars, pick-up and minivans
I was a trucker and a coach driver when in France but my french licenses are not valuable in Thailand.
Impossible for an "alien" or a farang to obtain that kind of license.
